Best Way To Have Lobster For Dinner version 3As a little experiment, I hired a bunch of writers on Fiverr to write short stories based on my comic piece "The Best Way To Have Lobster For Dinner" and decided to share three of my favorite pieces with you all. Here's the third: “What does lobster even taste like?” Matthew bounced the container with his legs. The container was made of white styrofoam. If Matthew hadn’t watched the lobster be packed into the container, he would never have known it was there. “Delicious,” his mother, Stacy, replied. Her blue eyes flickered over to Matthew for a moment. “You dad and I used to have it all the time when we were first dating. I just haven’t made it since.. Her voice cut off and Matthew gazed sadly. Even though it was two years ago, it felt like just yesterday since his dad had been killed in that terrible car crash. He sympathetically rubbed his mom’s shoulder and she smiled sweetly at him. “Thanks sport.” She said. “But anyway, your daddy would have wanted us to honor his legacy by continuing to eat lobsters, and that’s what we’re going to do. We’ll be home soon, and you’ll soon see for yourself how delicious it is! Just be careful with it. The guy at the supermarket said it came straight from the coast.” Matthew looked out the window and to the coast, which surrounded the quaint town of Pines. He tried imagining what it was like to be a lobster plucked from its home. He started to feel dread. Did he want to eat this lobster? Twenty minutes later, the car pulled into their long dirt driveway. Matthew hopped out of the car, ensuring to carefully carry the container so he didn’t drop it. They went inside and he set the container down on the counter. “Alright. I think I remember how to cook lobster after two years,” Stacy said. “If I remember right…” She trailed off as she searched around the kitchen. For the next few minutes, she sorted through cabinets but to no avail. Finally, with a defeated look on her face, she said, “Okay, I admit. I'm a little rusty on cooking seafood. Honey, would you go get the laptop please?” Stacy went ahead and tied her long brown hair up before putting on an apron to conceal her green sweater and jeans. Matthew was happy to oblige. Stacy started typing quickly as soon as she opened it up. “Okay, I’ve pulled up instructions on how to cook a live lobster, so we should be cookin now kiddo. Would you please read me the instructions aloud?” Matthew nodded, and they started the prep for the lobster. Within ten minutes, they had the side dishes prepared and the pot of salty water was starting to boil. Sarah took control of the laptop to quickly peruse the directions to ensure nothing was missed. “Hey, sport, check this out!” Sarah exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “It says to click on this link for the best way to have lobster for dinner. Mouthwatering and life-changing results guaranteed! Sounds promising to me!” Matthew’s eyes widened, and his stomach growled in anticipation. “Mom, click it! My mouth is already watering.” Unbeknownst to Sarah and Matthew, the lobster on their table was no ordinary crustacean. It was Frederick, a magical creature capable of understanding human language. As Sarah clicked on the enchanted website’s URL, Frederick couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.Your mouth is definitely going to water when she clicks it! Frederick thought mischievously.Way more than you could ever imagine. Go on, click it. A soft mechanical whirr filled the air once Sarah clicked on the website. She narrowed her eyes at the computer as a large DOWNLOADING – 2% popped up on the screen. Before she could click off of the site, a lightning bolt of pain coursed through her hand and up her arm. Matthew watched in horror as his mother jumped up and started howling in pain. After a few moments, she stopped screaming. “Mom! Are – are you okay?!” Matthew cried. Stacy threw him a bewildered look. “Y - Yes honey. I’m fine,” she stammered. “My arm just hurt for a minute. It’s okay.” Matthew himself started to feel unusual. A sudden burst of energy coursed through his veins. It almost felt like a warm embrace. Starting from their fingertips, a shimmering light began to emanate. It was a multi-colored swirl of every imaginable hue, each color seemingly not of this plane but from elsewhere. It traveled from their fingertips like an ocean wave, radiating outward in circles. It reminded Matthew of when he’d throw a stone into a lake and it would cause a ripple effect. The swirling vortex of light began to spin even faster - quickly growing in intensity - nearly blinding Matthew and Sarah. The transformation has begun! Frederick thought to himself. “Mommy, what the heck’s going on?!” Matthew cried in terror “I’m right here with you, honey!” Sarah cried. “It’s going to be okay!” They linked hands and watched in awe as their skin started to shimmer and glow. There was a strange sensation. Matthew looked down in horror at his arms - scales were forming! The blue and green specks created an iridescent display, while the pinks and purples danced like stars across the surface of their limbs. The two held each other close, murmuring incoherently as their legs started to fuse, gradually tapering into long, sleek tails reminiscent of mermaids. Their bones and muscles shifted and aligned to adjust to their new form. As the transformation progressed, Sarah’s once green shirt transformed into a purple seashell bikini top that matched the color of her new tail and Matthew’s shirt evaporated altogether, leaving him bare chested. “And to think the other lobsters talked down on me for this! Well who's laughing now, ya Red Lobster entrees! I'll be the one coming out on top rather than being eaten!” Frederick was cackling on the counter. While there was a catastrophic change in both Sarah and Matthew, there was also a change going on around them. The walls of the home began to ripple and shift. Water began to infuse itself into the structure. Before Matthew’s eyes, the once sturdy brick and mortar walls were transformed into pink-orange coral. The hues shifted with the sway of an apparent current. The coral seemed alive, gently swaying as if dancing to music. At this time, Sarah felt a tingling sensation at the base of her neck. Slits formed on both sides. As they developed, the slits widened and stretched. Matthew too marveled at the transformation as he began to go through it. His face lit up with wonder as his gills formed, mirroring the slits on his own mother’s neck. Matthew and Sarah both started to feel a headrush, and everything felt far away. Their memories of walks in the park, where laughter filled the air and children played, began to fade away and transform into a new vivid memory of swimming through expansive coral reefs. The green grass and blooming flowers of the park were swiftly replaced with images of sunlight filtering through the ocean’s surface. The memories of frequent picnics evolved into images of sharing meals amidst all of the fish in the ocean. Instead of baskets filled with sandwiches and fruits, there were kelp wraps and marinated sea plants. Matthew’s childhood memories of learning to ride bikes transformed into flashes of swimming alongside sea turtles. Instead of Matthew roasting marshmallows at camp, he now remembered playfully chasing after elusive eels. Sarah’s moments of teaching Matthew to ride a bike morphed into memories of guiding him through the water, teaching him how to navigate the currents and identify the types of fish. Cooking together in their old kitchen was slowly replaced with memories of preparing meals with seaweed and marine delicacies in their new underwater kitchen. Even the most precious memories, such as watching sunsets with her late husband at the beach before his car accident, were morphed into watching the sun set beneath the ocean waves with him before a great white shark ate him. Family car trips slowly changed into visions of exploring the depths of the ocean. The house was not done morphing. The once solid ceiling dissolved easily and was replaced with a translucent dome that revealed the water teeming with wildlife above. The dome allowed rays of sunlight to dance through the shimmering water. The whole atmosphere now had a surreal feeling to it. The floors, once covered in carpet, transform into a mosaic of smooth pebbles and shimmering seashells. Strands of seaweed were scattered around this new home, helping to create a soft, flowing ambiance. The furniture was also transforming. The wooden tables and chairs were sculpted into coral formations. The countertops in the kitchen took on a pearly iridescence, resembling the inside of a seashell. They were decorated with seashells and small pieces of coral, creating a natural but enchanting display in the process. The kitchen sink then turned into a miniature rock pool complete with small anemones and tiny starfish clinging to the sides. In the living room, the sofa was turned into cushions made of algae. The coffee table transformed into a low coral reef, showcasing small schools of fish and intricate seashell patterns. The windows, no longer made of glass, were now replaced with water. Beyond them, the pink-orange coral reefs stretched as far as the eye can see. The laptop screen began to flicker before gradually transforming into a mesmerizing holographic interface that floated in the water. The keyboard was remodeled into an array of tiny luminescent shells. The laptop finally came to a quiet. The download was complete. It was five in the evening, which meant dinner time. Right on cue, there was a knock at the seashell-encrusted door. “Matthew, would you get that, please?” Sarah sang from the kitchen. Matthew quickly swam over to the door to reveal a grinning Frederick. “Hi, Matthew,” Frederick said as he strolled in and plopped down on the soft algae. “How are you doing?” He looked around the living room with the smile still plastered on his face, almost as if he were proud of himself for something. “Your home is just so beautiful! I can’t help but admire it.” “Oh, stop!” Sarah said with a chuckle as she swam in. “Anyways, the food will be done in a couple of minutes. In the meantime, we can all sit here and talk. I made a special dinner for us: kelp and plankton wraps marinated in algae!” “Mom, while we wait, could I go race the sea turtles?” “No, honey–” “But mooom! They taunt me–” “No!” Sarah bellowed. “Dinner won’t be long. The turtles can wait for now.” Sarah got up from the algae. She began to swim towards the kitchen. “Here, let me help you set the table!” Matthew offered. He jumped up and followed her to the kitchen. Frederick took a seat at the dinner table, which was shaped like a coral reef and carved out of wood. A few minutes later, Matthew and Sarah emerged from the kitchen with plates of piping hot food. As they sat the plates on the table, Matthew himself was finally able to take the food in. The kelp and plankton wraps were served on vibrant coral reef plates, each one painted with a unique design. On each plate lay a wrap garnished with seaweed strands. It looked like something a fish chef would cook up! The trio enjoyed the meal with several laughs and jokes. Finally, after about twenty minutes, they were all finished eating. “Thank you for coming over,” Sarah said to Frederick, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. “It’s been such an honor to have you! What a nice celebration we had.” “Wait, what’re we celebrating, Mom?” Matthew cocked his head in confusion. Sarah let out a small laugh as if Matthew was supposed to already know. “We’re celebrating all of those vile, fish-eating humans drowning in a plane crash today! It’s a happy day for merfolks, lobsters, and pretty much all sea creatures.” Realization dawned on Matthew as his mother said this. He remembered hearing about the plane crash earlier. A bunch of the junior sharks were going to head over to the site and see what meals they could get out of it. “Don’t forget the sharks and barracudas!” He reminded. “They were the ones who slowly consumed the humans afterward. It’s so awesome! That’ll teach them to mess with us down here in the ocean!” Frederick nodded in agreement, a twinkle in his eye. Matthew could’ve sworn he almost saw a tear collect in Frederick’s eye. “Yes, it certainly is wonderful that there are fewer humans to worry about…believe me,” Frederick said. “Honestly, it’s even better that you two know how to have lobsters for dinner!” His laughter echoed through the underwater abode, filling the space with joy and mirth. “Why yes, of course, we do!” Sarah exclaimed. “We truly know how to take care of lobsters!”

Hi All I am so busy I really need some more mods!
The big thing I want is to be sure things go into the correct folder. Most things are autoaccepted except for a few folders, so sometimes things need to be moved around. I'm also not ok with ANY screencaps from shows, art theft, or manipulation of TV stills etc. Original work or stuff used from stock only.

Anyone up for the challenge? I don't want the group to die but I am too busy as a pro mermaid!
More Journal Entries

The Rules!

I dont have many rules about submitting but I'd like them to be followed.
I have it set so people can submit a whole wack of things to the appropriate gallery without a mod needing to vote. That being said:

Do NOT submit things that have nothing to do with our group

DO NOT submit screen caps of the little mermaid, motivational posters that use copyrighted work, or manips of POTC 4 stills and posters etc. All of these things are against DA policy and will not be allowed in the group. The same goes for manips of h20 or any other copyrighted material. We have a wonderful stock folder full of mermaid and mermaid related stock. If you're manipping, please use that.

FEATURED FOLDER is for Admins to feature people, work we feel everyone would really enjoyed, or is under appreciated. I frequently comb through it to take things from that folder and put them in others to keep it fresh.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, here's how the galleries work:

Traditional= any 2d image created with traditional materials. NOT sculptures, arts and crafts, etc they have their own section to keep the traditional folder from being too big. Likewise, traditional FANART will go to the fanart section, not the traditional art section.

Digital= any work created with the use of a computer, or any work that it's majority digital. Fanart will not go here, it will have it's own folder, again to keep from making the digital uploads overloaded. Photomanips will also not go here, they have their own section.

Photomanips= anything done with photomanipulation. Note: if you include any art theft it'll be removed. This includes lifting images from google.

Photography= here's where we get tricky. If you have an image of you in a tail that you did not make, and you are not cosplaying a character, it would go here. If you have a mermaid related portrait it would go here. This can also be a good spot for mermaid inspired work.

Mermaid DDs= you can't submit here, but if you find a DD that's not already here please leave a comment or send a note so we can request the image in the group

Arts and Crafts= any traditional art that is not on paper. Sculpting, dolls, jewellery, scrapbooking etc

Costumes= a mermaid tail YOU MADE YOURSELF or a mermaid costume that is NOT cosplay (meaning a character that already exists)

World Mermaid Awards= Photos from the first mermaid convention

Merpalooza 2012= photos from the second mermaid convention

Stock= images of mermaids, of water, or of something related to mermaids that people are allowed to use for manipping purposes. This is a good example of a place where you can submit something mermaid inspired as well

Stamps, Icons, Pixels, Etc= pretty obvious

Fanart AND cosplay= any fanart from an existing character and any cosplay of an existing character. I decided to merge the folder because the majority of fanart and cosplay we get is The Little Mermaid, so this is essentially, The Little Mermaid Folder.... anything TLM goes here, regardless of if it's digital, traditional, etc.

Text= anything text based, so text based imagery, literature, fonts etc.

Thanks for your understanding. Im pretty liberal with the group but these are just the basics folks.

Finally, still looking for some contributors to help out.
Please invite your friends.
