Tutorial Showcase #11DeviantART is a great place to find not only art but also some awesome tutorials. It doesn't matter if you are interested in photo manipulation or writing, usually there is a tutorial for that. But at the same time there are so many great tutorials outside of deviantART and most deviantART users might never find them unless someone shows these tutorials to them. So I'm happy to introduce you a new journal series called "Tutorial Showcase" which features some awesome tutorials outside of deviantART. System is pretty simple. Every showcase journal showcases five tutorials from a specific category and this category changes with every new journal. There's no special placement, all of them are equal. So here we go!
Theme for this time is:
This first tutorial is actually a really simple idea of how to make a cool wallpaper. Photo manipulation can often times be a hard thing to do for people who haven't done this before but t

Devious Journal EntryIn light of the recent bombings at the Boston Marathon, I have decided I will be offering a charity item in my shop in order to contribute something to those who have been affected by this tragedy.
Starting tomorrow, I will have the item in my shop and will have it there for a month. The item will be a miniature Boston cream pie charm, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. At the end of the month I will make a lump sum donation to them.
I really hope this is not coming across as tacky or as a gimmick on my part to increase page views/sales/what have you. This is a very sad and horrible event that has happened and it has affected so many people. I would like to do my part in trying to help.
I will have the items up tomorrow morning-ish and will post when I do.
Digital Illustration TutorialI made this tutorial back in 2010 as a pitch for a project that never took off. I finally decided I should just bundle it up as a PDF and upload it for anyone who wants to see it. It's old and the image quality isn't super great, but it covers my process from idea creation, composition, adding color, all the way to the final draft, and there might be something useful in there for some of you.

Anthro Artist Feature and Interview - SugarpoultryHello Anthro Deviants! I would like to have the pleasure of bringing to you the Anthro Artist Feature & Interview (AAFI)! The deviant whom I will be featuring is: sugarpoultry!
It Will Burn by: sugarpoultry
Really shows the raw talent that sugarpoultry pulls from her mind. Making you feel the emotion. The pose and composition of this piece is outstanding.
The lighting and the detail are brilliant. There is no stone unturned with this piece.
sugarpoultry was a new deviant to me a year or so ago and I haven't stopped admiring her work sense. She brings a fresh coat of paint to a new canvas with how she portrays her anthro work. From her snarly werewolves to her anthro costumes she delivers such a great atmosphere and variety to her gallery. She is ready and willing to help and provide what she can for her fellow deviants. Like providing various resources such as her fantastic

You're Not A PoetYou’re not a poet because of strung words
Together on row upon row again
Of blank verse or perhaps liberal rhyme.
‘Slam’ all you want, other poets wonder;
Your ignorance of couplets a blunder?
Yes! I speak harshly, but it’s no gross crime,
To point with honesty failed verse of thine.
No real poet discards upper case words;
Lets prose crawl on paper like listless worms.
You seek to free verse of those stern letters,
Sever away bleak capital fetters,
But it doesn’t sing of great speech sublime,
Rather, it sneaks of writing in spare time.
Wait! before you throw me in the icy Rhine;
It’s hard to put verse together in rhyme,
To make our dull words sound great all the time,
Hear them ring out loud, like a clear clock’s chime,
Heralding a poet’s summer prime.
Yet the sacred muses weep at your crime;
Your pentameter mangled thick like slime,
The subject not gilded in raiment fine;
Your bold ink font, crystal waters divine
Tastes bitter to the ton

Lilyas has dedicated herself to making our community a brighter place with her vibrant artwork and infectious enthusiasm for interacting with others in our community. It has certainly paid off, as many deviants flock to her page on a daily basis to let her know how much of an inspiration she is. We absolutely agree, and couldn't let all that hard work go without recognition, so it's with great pride that we bestow the Deviousness Award for March 2014, to ... Read More
